Chief Risk Officer

Hope Lorna Nakhayenze has over 17 years of extensive experience in risk management, internal controls, and compliance. Her professional credentials include Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), Treasurer (Association of Corporate Treasurers), and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (Makerere University).

Her diverse background spans finance, corporate treasury, audit assurance, management consulting, and professional education, demonstrating a proven track record of successful team leadership and mentorship.

As Chief Risk Officer, she will spearhead the strategic oversight of the banks comprehensive risk profile, operating under the guidance of the Board Risk Committee.

Her mandate includes the development and execution of a robust risk management framework, incorporating advanced tools for the meticulous measurement, reporting, and control of both financial and non-financial risks. Furthermore, she leads the articulation of the organization’s risk appetite, ensuring alignment with and support for the achievement of our strategic objectives.

Her distinguished career includes leadership roles at Ecobank Uganda where she served as Head of Risk & Internal Control and Head of Risk at I&M Bank (Uganda) Limited, where she also served on the Board of the Provident Fund.

Prior to these appointments, she held progressively senior positions within the Finance and Risk departments at Stanbic Bank, including Business Planning & Analysis Manager, Operational Risk Manager, and Head, Operational Risk. Her prior experience includes Treasurer at Hima Cement, Senior Operational Risk Advisor at Barclays Bank, Management Trainee at AH Consulting, and tutoring at Management and Financial College.
